UK: Shoppers ‘Push and Shove’ to be First in Store as Nike Town as London’s Oxford Street Reopens

THERE were frenzied scenes at the Nike Town store in central London as it reopened today for the first time in three months.

Around 400 people started queuing from early this morning, all eager to get their hands on sports gear when the doors opened at 10am.

However, security had to step in when 10am arrived, to restrict people entering the store in groups of 10 at one time.

When security staff tried to introduce order at the doors, shoppers started pushing and shoving each other to get to the front of the queue.

Nike Town staff members told shoppers to move apart and adhere to social distancing, as the queue grew longer, snaking around the corner of the building.

Elsewhere on Oxford Street, London’s shopping Mecca, shoppers were told to use hand sanitiser as they walked into Primark, which opened its doors at 8am. Shoppers are being advised to browse the rails “with their eyes” to avoid touching products unnecessarily.
