A multi-million euro holiday voucher scheme is being launched in Valencia to reactivate tourism. PRESIDENT of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig , has announced a new initiative, Viatge CV Voucher, which will offer discounts of up to 70 per cent on vacations in the region, which could be as much as €600. The scheme will be rolled out next month and is available to anyone registered in the Valencian Community. The announcement was made during Puig’s speech at the General Policy Debate in Les Corts, in which he highlighted that the Consell will launch “a plan for the recovery of the Valencian Community as a safe tourist destination”. He said the tourism industry is “a sector so fundamental to our economy and needs a shock plan for its reactivation”. Puig explained that the government project is geared towards “the recovery of the business fabric, occupation and Valencian tourist destinations to consolidate tourism as a driving force for the region’s economy “. As such, anyone registered person in the region may obtain a 70 per cent discount on expenses, up to €600, “both for tourist accommodation and services contracted with travel agencies that have joined the program”. The plan will come into effect in mid-October and the total budget for the Tourism Recovery Plan is €196 million.
