I have just down loaded the Costa Blanca south edition and it is almost impossible to navigate because of adverts. I understand it has to be paid for but this is ridiculous.
I read it from a pc as an e paper and there are no extraneous adverts, this is also the case with a download to a pc or laptop so suggest you consider that option.
I think Bill is referring to the fact that more than half of the paper is ads. Ads are overwhelming the real content, you have to sift thru the ads to find bits of actual articles hidden between ads. I agree with Bill.
As is the case with all free papers there has to be a significant element of advertising as that is what pays for the writing of the articles as well as all overheads which include design, accounts to look after tax, office accommodation, printing and distribution. We try to keep to a 50/50 ratio in the run of paper and also have dedicated writers for our website. Advertisers are themselves finding it difficult to cope with the loss of business caused by the state of alarm so from both their point of view and ours, the continued of dedication our readers is recognised and appreciated. Unlike other newspapers, we don’t charge for access to our internet content, don’t appeal for financial support from readers and publish six editions every week, 52 weeks a year and are now in our third decade of service.
There are far more ads than articles, I believe that is the point.
