Writing Books

Dear Editor,

Regarding the advert on writing books, don’t bother. Writing is the easy bit, selling is the near impossible bit.

J K Rowling was the worst thing to happen to writers. Now millions think they can make their fortune writing books, something only a few established writers manage.

Publishers are inundated with unasked for manuscripts. You can self publish on Kindle, which already has some ten million books. There are over 130 million books out there with another few million more every year. And there are many millions of free books out there. So why should anyone buy books from an unknown like you?

Leapy

Hi Leapy, just a very short note to say I love reading your column my friend, keep up the good work and don’t let the b……s grind you down

All the best Tom.

PS enjoy your trip back to the lovely Emerald Isle

Animal Cruelty

I feel I must write with disgust at the latest announcement regarding slaughter houses in Spain. It has just been passed that CCTV cameras are being installed in all slaughter houses to protect animals from cruelty whilst being slaughtered. I think they must be having a laugh! What about the cruelty to the bulls in the bull rings, just for enjoyment!!!! I rest my case.
