The facilities at Sunny View School

Located just outside of Torremolinos in Malaga, Sunny View School is a spacious site which boasts incredible views of the surrounding area. The school consists of dedicated buildings for Preschool, Primary and Secondary, in addition to a Sixth Form Centre that boasts an independent swimming pool for year 12 and 13 students.

The students can make the most of shared facilities including a school hall, basketball and volleyball courts, a football pitch, a gym, a playground, and a swimming pool.

All of the classrooms at Sunny View School are equipped with facilities for interactive teaching including large touch screens and other state-of-the-art technologies to improve and enhance the learning experience. Modern furnishings contribute to a safe and stimulating environment, and older secondary students are able to use laptops in class to complement learning. Reception at Sunny View School

Following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) play-based curriculum, children will then move into Reception classes. Here, emphasis is placed on the child as an active learner who plays a central role in the construction of their own knowledge, skills and understanding. This year, which is for children aged four to five years old, is the beginning of more academic learning and encourages children to use their skills to become independent learners.

Primary years at Sunny View School

The primary school classrooms are full of vibrancy, fun, engaged learning, and happy children. Learners are encouraged to approach the world with creativity and curiosity and to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment.

The school follows the English National Curriculum for Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) and Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6), and there is a strong emphasis on English and Maths. Class teachers are responsible for most of the teaching of English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Art and Design and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE). Subject specialists teach Spanish, Computing, Music and Physical Education (PE).

Secondary years at Sunny View School

The school provides a complete British education that follows the National Curriculum guidelines through Key Stage 3 (years 7, 8 and 9), Key Stage 4 (years 10 and 11) and Key Stage 5 (years 12 and 13).

Students will be prepared for their GCSE exams with Edexcel in Key Stage 4 and the range of subjects includes English Language and Literature, Maths, History, Geography, Sciences, Spanish, French, German, Business Studies, Art and Design, Drama, Physical Education and Information Communications Technology.

At Key Stage 5 and following GSCE exams, students can continue studying for their A Levels at Sunny View. The subjects offered at this level include Maths, English, Sciences, Geography, History, Spanish, French, German, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Economics and Business Studies.

Most students then move on to university in the UK. For students who choose to go to university in Spain, they will not need to complete a university entrance exam (selectividad) because A Levels are externally and independently assessed qualifications.

Extra-curricular activities at Sunny View School

Extra-curricular activities in schools are extremely important in providing students with a well-rounded education, allowing them to discover their interests and passions, and helping them to integrate into a multi-national community.

The school provides plenty of interesting and interactive extra-curricular activities including dance, judo, robotix, debate club, rollerblading, chess, languages such as Chinese and music lessons including guitar.
