Spain is anticipating to witness historic eclipses three years in a row; a fortunate world anomaly. Spain has won the “astronomical lottery”, being positioned in a place from which three eclipses will be seen from 2026 until 2028; a unique opportunity in one´s life.

On average, a person will only witness at most one such eclipse throughout their life; admiring the celestial phenomenon of the Sun and the Moon´s transformations. From 2026 to 2028, three eclipses of the highest category will occur at once; two of them being total eclipses, and one an annular eclipse.

People in Spain will be the only ones to witness all three eclipses in all their glory, as rings of light will illuminate the Moon. The significance of these events poses changes in the level of tourism, attracting visitors from around the globe to witness the eclipses in Spain.

The National Eclipse Commission is now developing the activities to be held throughout future eclipses, preparing for a growing interest in Spain for tourists, scholars, and researchers.

On August 12, 2026, the Total Solar Eclipse will occur, followed by another Total Solar Eclipse on August 2, 2027, and an Annular Solar Eclipse on January 26, 2028.
