Calpe representatives at SICTED Forum Credit: Calpe Council, X

Calpe City Council participated in the first SICTED Destination Forum of the Valencian Community, representing the town for the “Step Towards Sustainability.”

Organised by the Valencian Generalitat Tourism, the Forum took place in Gandia on April 10 and April 11, uniting the 41 Valencian municipalities with exceptional quality of tourism.

SICTED (The Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destinations) is a national project aimed at improving the quality of tourist destinations with TURESPAÑA, sharing their high-standard model for managing quality tourism across Spain.

Renowned for its tourist appeal, Calpe was one of the towns chosen to attend and took part in the presentations of the policies in the Sustainability Strategy by Valencian Community Tourism, learning new methods of creating sustainable tourism.

Calpe has been transforming the tourism sector by working with companies including Global Omnium, who created an AI tool to facilitate water supply infrastructures. With the organisation, Calpe has been able to achieve 90 per cent efficiency in water management, collecting reusable water through the Casa Nova watchtower observatory.
