Gaucin is preparing for one of its most colourful spring dates of the year, with the Gaucin Spring Market coming to the Paseo Ana Toval on Sunday, April 26, running from 11am to 6pm. This relaxed, family-friendly event is a traditional, proper village day out with shopping, food, live music, workshops and activities for both children and adults.

For anyone who hasn’t visited before, the beautiful setting is the main reason to take the drive out. Gaucin is a mountain village in the west of Malaga province, one of the best-known white villages of the Serrania de Ronda. Its high up elevated position over 600 metres above sea level gives it its famous wide-open views that stretch as far as Gibraltar and North Africa, earning it the nickname ‘the Balcony of the Serrania’. The village sits in the foothills of the Sierra del Hacho, with the Genal river running through the surrounding mountain landscape, a stunning base for anyone who loves Andalusian scenery, walking routes and that crisp mountain air.

Spring in Gaucin is the perfect weather for wandering through the market stalls and taking in the scenery

The timing of the market is ideal too. Spring brings beautiful clear skies and comfortable daytime temperatures perfect for browsing stalls and lingering for lunch, much more tempting than a quick in-and-out visit.

The Spring market event is a great chance for visitors to turn the trip into a full day in the village. Visit Gaucin highlights the ruins of the Castillo del Aguila (Eagle Castle) at the top of town, plus classic whitewashed streets, viewpoints over the Genal valley, and a main square atmosphere where it’s easy to stop for a drink and sample local flavours, with hearty stews, local produce, and traditional sweets such as roscos de almendra and alfajores.

For practical info on the day, including directions and local guidance, visitors can contact the Gaucin Tourist Office (Paseo Ana Toval, s/n) on +34 952 15 00 85 or email turismo@gaucin.es.
