In order to ring in World Circus Day, Torrevieja celebrated in a big way with its show, “La Premiere,” taking place at the Virgen del Carmen Cultural Centre. The event, which was presented on the evening of Sunday, April 19, was a grand spectacle that brought family and friends together for a programme of fun, friendship, diversity, respect for the environment, and of course, humour.

A fun-filled, hilarious, and heartwarming story about adversaries

The spectacle was performed by the local entertainment company, Teatrapo, and was recommended for audiences of all ages. “La Premiere” tells the tale of four artists with clashing personalities who take the stage together. Through comedic language, an impressive production design, and breathtaking theatre and circus techniques, the characters face their fears and differences and learn to work together in camaraderie as they prepare to perform their roles.

The show was a dynamic and engaging experience, focused on the values of coexistence, diversity, and teamwork, all without sacrificing entertainment and hilarious onstage antics. It was part of the Theatre for All cycle, which, at least once a month, offers young and old residents shows full of values including environmentalism, friendship, respect, love, art and culture…always accompanied by lots of fun.

Torrevieja: A hub of culture and entertainment on the Costa Blanca

With this show, Teatrapo has reaffirmed its commitment to bringing the performing arts closer to all citizens of Torrevieja and celebrates World Circus Day with a work that combines humour, emotion and creativity.

The event also helps to reaffirm Torrevieja’s reputation on the Costa Blanca South as a cultural and entertainment hub. Local shows like these boost resident participation, attract visitors to Torrevieja, and help keep local theatre and entertainment companies like Teatrapo running.

World Circus Day is an international celebration, held annually on the third Saturday of April to honor the rich tradition, artistry, and cultural impact of the circus.
