Volunteers, animal lovers, and active residents in Almoradi are gearing up for the seventh edition of the municipality’s Solidarity Walk with Animals, which will combine sport, community, and support for animal protection organisations in the Costa Blanca. The event will have a strong charitable aspect, with all proceeds going to the Alma Peluda and Red Cross non-profit organisations.

Almoradi’s paws-some parade returns for seventh edition

The Solidarity Walk will take place at the Plaza de la Libertad in Almoradi on the morning of Sunday, May 10, and race bibs can be collected both on Saturday in the Plaza de la Constitución from 10:00am to 1:00pm, as well as on the same Sunday from 9:30am in the Plaza de la Libertad.

One of the new aspects of this year’s edition is its conclusion at the Mason Tree, where fresh fruit and water will be waiting for the participants that completed the walk. Additionally, a raffle with prizes donated by sponsors will be prepared, and a professional dog trainer will also be present to offer expert advice to attendees.

Registration will cost just €3 for adults and €1 for participants, and these participants will each receive a commemorative backpack containing waste bags and a bottle for their pets.

About the benefiting charities: Alma Peluda and the Red Cross

One of the benefiting charities to which the proceeds will go, Alma Peluda, is a local Almoradi animal shelter that houses and rehomes abandoned animals. The centre currently takes care of more than 70 cats and dogs, and also helps to spread the word about missing pets.

The Red Cross, the other benefiting charity, is an international humanitarian non-profit organisation focused on providing help to those who need it, primarily by providing disaster relief and emergency assistance. The organisation is also known to help pets and animals as part of their commitment.
