One of the most beautiful villages in Lucainena de las Torres is about to become even prettier, when thousands of flowers in full bloom decorate the small town.
From May 9 to May 10, Lucainena de las Torres will celebrate its “Day of Flowers”, a tradition that now dates back more than twenty years. Geraniums, pelargoniums, ivy plants and many more spring staples will brighten the village, creating a spectacular display that lines balconies, façades and narrow streets. The floral arrangements remain as a natural decoration throughout the season until they gradually fade with the warmer summer weather.
A Spring Festival Full of Colour and Tradition
This year, the local celebration will also feature two additional events, including the May Crosses competition and an eco-market, where visitors can shop for handmade products, discover local crafts and attend art workshops. Younger visitors will also be entertained with children’s activities and a bouncy castle throughout the weekend.
The Day of Flowers has become one of the most anticipated events in the province of Almería Province, attracting travellers who want to experience the charm of one of Spain’s officially recognised most beautiful villages. The streets of Lucainena de las Torres are known for their immaculate whitewashed houses, flower-filled corners and traditional Andalusian atmosphere, making the festival especially photogenic during springtime.
Traditional Food and Community Spirit
Over the weekend, two traditional dishes of migas and rice will be offered, prepared by the Lucanius Women’s Association. All proceeds from the meals will go towards supporting a child living with Angelman Syndrome, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder.
The celebration is organised with strong involvement from local residents, associations and volunteers, who spend days preparing floral displays and decorating public spaces. The festival not only highlights the beauty of nature, but also reflects the village’s strong sense of community and hospitality.
Why Lucainena de las Torres is Worth Visiting
Located in the foothills of the Sierra Alhamilla mountains, Lucainena de las Torres is frequently praised for its peaceful atmosphere, restored historic centre and scenic walking routes. During the Day of Flowers celebration, visitors can stroll through streets filled with colour, enjoy local gastronomy and experience authentic rural tourism in one of Andalusia’s prettiest settings.
The “Day of Flowers” continues to celebrate spring, nature and colour year after year. Not only does the occasion bring together the entire Lucainena de las Torres community, but it also draws visitors from across the province who travel to experience the beauty of the event in person.
