The Almería coast has officially strengthened its international appeal with the launch of a new charter flight programme from Poland. The first flights operated by TUI Poland arrived today, Monday May 25, at Almería Airport carrying 325 passengers from Warsaw and Katowice, marking a significant milestone for tourism in the province.

The new summer operation is expected to attract between 6,000 and 8,000 Polish visitors to the region by October 2026, creating fresh opportunities for hotels, restaurants and local businesses across the Costa de Almería.

The inaugural flights were welcomed with an official reception attended by representatives from the Provincial Council, the Andalusian regional government and the municipalities of Almería and Roquetas de Mar. Tourism officials gathered at the airport terminal to greet the first arrivals and celebrate the start of what is being described as a strategic new connection between eastern Europe and southern Spain.

The first two aircraft carried 180 and 145 passengers respectively, demonstrating strong early demand for the destination among Polish travellers. The flights connect Almería directly with Warsaw and Katowice, two important outbound tourism markets in Poland.

Weekly charter flights until October 2026

The new charter route will operate once a week from now until 5 October 2026. Tourism authorities estimate that between 300 and 400 passengers will arrive weekly throughout the summer season.

Officials believe the new route represents a major boost for Almería’s international tourism strategy. Polish tourists are considered a valuable market due to their longer average stays and higher tourism spending, benefiting hotels, beach resorts, restaurants and cultural attractions across the province.

Popular destinations including Almería and Roquetas de Mar are expected to benefit significantly from the increased visitor numbers.

Almería targets growth in the Polish tourism market

Local and regional authorities highlighted the importance of collaboration with TUI Poland in opening the province to a growing eastern European audience. The initiative is seen as a major step in positioning Almería as a competitive Mediterranean holiday destination within the Polish market.

Tourism representatives also stressed that this new direct connection strengthens both urban tourism in Almería city and the province’s established sun-and-beach appeal.

Polish travel agents join promotional trip

To support long-term growth and destination awareness, the first flights also brought a group of Polish travel agents and tourism professionals to Almería as part of a familiarisation trip.

During their stay, the group will experience the province’s coastal resorts, hotel infrastructure, gastronomy and cultural attractions firsthand. The aim is to help travel professionals confidently promote and sell Almería holidays to Polish customers in the future.

The launch of the new TUI Poland charter programme marks an important moment for the province’s tourism sector and reflects growing international interest in Almería as a summer holiday destination.
