Fuengirola local police officers have heavily intensified their roadside breathalyser checks this year to remove potentially dangerous drivers from the local asphalt. Saturday night operations saw dedicated units setting up multiple surprise checkpoints across the popular holiday destination to target individuals driving under the dangerous influence of illicit substances. This more aggressive campaign clearly is meant to raise safety standards and deter reckless driving behaviour.

Breathalyser tests administered during the weekend operation yielded entirely clean results, but targeted drug screenings painted a completely different picture for testing investigators. Five out of seven motorists tested positive for banned narcotics, with cannabis and cocaine being explicitly identified by the authorities. Officers immediately impounded two vehicles and issued nineteen separate fines for various severe traffic violations.

Smart transport alternatives for town nightlife

Infractions discovered by patrolling teams included driving without a valid MOT (ITV) certificate, failing to wear safety belts, and illegally using mobile phones whilst driving. Expired driving licences and electric personal mobility scooter irregularities also triggered immediate financial penalties. Law enforcement teams are refusing to tolerate any neglect of traffic regulations during these extensive summer traffic safety operations.

Local police upped the intensity of driver-ability following a horrific crash in April 2025. The driver at fault in that accident is still serving time.

Town hall officials expressed deep gratitude towards the law-abiding majority of drivers who continuously help keep local streets safe for pedestrians. However, municipal leaders reiterated that maintaining total road safety remains a permanent, shared community responsibility. Everyone must respect local traffic laws and completely avoid hazardous intoxicants before operating any kind of private motor vehicle.

Holidaymakers and residents seeking an evening of entertainment should always choose official transportation options rather than risking their driving privileges or safety. Fuengirola boasts an extensive fleet of properly licensed taxis that offer a completely legal, comfortable, and highly reliable ride home. Trusting professional taxi drivers ensures that revellers can enjoy the local nightlife without facing heavy prosecution.
