The beautiful town of Muchamiel is gearing up for one of its most anticipated annual traditions: on Saturday, July 25, 2026, the community will gather at the Parque El Canyar de les Portelles for the official Presentació Càrrecs Festers 2026, or Presentation of the Festive Representatives. This highly anticipated evening marks the official introduction of the key figures who will lead Muchamiel’s iconic Moors and Christians festivals later in the year, keeping a vibrant cultural and historical legacy alive.
An evening of celebration and community connection
The evening’s celebrations begin at 9:00pm with a pre-event cocktail party held in the lush gardens of Parque El Canyar de les Portelles. This social hour offers a wonderful opportunity for the local festive groups, neighbours, and visitors to mingle, share their excitement, and toast to the upcoming festive season. Following the cocktail hour, the formal presentation ceremony will commence at 11:00pm. During this grand gala, the newly chosen captains, ambassadors, and representatives from both the Moorish and Christian sides will step into the spotlight to be officially presented to the public, taking on roles that carry immense pride and responsibility.
How to secure your tickets and invitations
With prior registration, entry will be completely free for any interested visitors. For those wishing to join the earlier cocktail party, tickets are priced at €25 for adults and €5 for children. All free invitations and cocktail tickets must be collected at the Casal Fester between July 9 and July 23, during the designated hours of 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
The deep history behind Moors and Christians: One of Spain’s most celebrated traditional festivals
The Moors and Christians festival is a commemoration of Spain’s rich medieval history, celebrating coexistence, conflict, and cultural integration. The festivals, which are celebrated widely across Spain, serve as a powerful symbol of local identity and community unity, passing down centuries-old traditions through generation after generation. The colourful costumes, grand marches, battle reenactments, and traditional music honour Spain’s past while also fostering a deep sense of pride and belonging among the people of Muchamiel, transforming history into a living, breathing summer celebration.
The Muchamiel Town Hall are inviting the entire community to take part in this foundational event, as gathering together to honour the new representatives is what truly elevates the town’s beloved historic festivals. This summer, Muchamiel is transforming into one of the many hotspots on the Costa Blanca with a lively calendar and endless festivities.
