Albox adds new indie/pop festival to October music calendar

Music fans rejoice, as two major festival nights are landing in Albox within just 15 days of each other this autumn. Almanzora Sound brings some of the best national pop and indie to Plaza Mayor before the town’s long-running punk gathering returns.

Siloé and Miss Caffeina lead the first line-up

The first Almanzora Sound will fill the centre of Albox with six hours of live music on Friday October 9. Doors open at 7pm and performances begin at 8pm, with food trucks adding another reason to stay in the square between sets. 

Valladolid trio Siloé will headline the inaugural edition. The group blends folk and pop-rock with electronic sounds. With some massive Spanish hits including La Oposición and Todos Los Besos, the band have built a dedicated following in Spain and a busy presence on the country’s festival circuit.

They will share the bill with Miss Caffeina, another highly established name in Spanish alternative pop. Los Bigardos, a local group performing Spanish indie, pop and rock covers, will add a familiar Almanzora connection, while Albox DJ Jonathan Castillo completes the programme.

Organisers say the programme will run for six hours, taking the event into the early hours of Saturday.

The iconic main square becomes the festival ground

Rather than using Albox’s fairground or a purpose-built festival location, Almanzora Sound will be staged in Plaza Mayor. Food trucks are planned alongside the music, giving the night a broader social and food element. Mayor María del Mar Alfonso said the event was intended to bring “activity, social life, culture and dynamism” to the Almanzora area. Promoter Diego Bravo also said that it had been created with the intention of returning after its first edition.

The festival is backed by Albox Town Hall and Almería Provincial Council, with DGB Producciones and Wild Punk involved in its organisation.

Its arrival gives Albox two very different festival nights in the same month. Rock Albox, the town’s established punk festival, returns to the Recinto Ferial on Saturday October 24 as well, while Almanzora Sound brings a more pop and indie line-up to the historic centre on October 9.

Phased prices mean get there early!

Tickets are available through Bravo Entradas. The sales information lists phased prices of €30, €35 and €45, with the final tier beginning on September 9. So for those interested in a bit of some legendary Spanish indie, get those tickets early! Children also require tickets and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
