Tivoli World revamp: Have your say on Benalmadena plans before August 18

Benalmadena town hall has just opened a public consultation on plans to transform the old Tivoli World site. Locals and anyone with an interest can chip in with their views right now. The idea covers a bigger amusement park plus a shopping centre and a couple of hotels on the land that has sat closed and unused for years.

What the plans actually involve

Documents already published set out the early outline for a Plan de Reforma Interior. This covers the full site where Tivoli once operated as one of the Costa del Sol’s most loved attractions. The scheme plans to bring the park back bigger than before while adding commercial space and two hotels. Official papers include the initial planning text, maps and an environmental report. Who gets to take part

Any resident of Benalmadena as well as other people or groups who might be affected or simply interested can join in. No special qualification is needed beyond wanting to share an opinion on the published material. This stage is about gathering views before the full detailed plan gets drawn up and published, so ordinary people’s comments count.

How to send your comments

Head for one of the official routes only. Online, log into the Sede Electronica at sede.benalmadena.es and use the general application or electronic registry. A digital certificate or Cl@ve login usually does the job. Face-to-face, take a written note to the Registro General at the town hall. Booking a slot first makes sense if you prefer the in-person option. Stick the Tivoli consultation reference on whatever you send so it lands in the right pile.

Deadlines and documents you need

Comments must arrive by August 18 the latest. One full month runs from the day the notice went up on the council site. Three main files already sit ready for download: the planning norms and maps, the main report, and the environmental paper. Reading those first helps keep feedback useful. Later on there will be a formal public information period once the detailed plan reaches the approval stage, but this current window is for early opinions only.

Benalmadena has already sent the advance paperwork to the regional environment department for its three-month look. After that comes the full Plan de Reforma Interior, which will need town hall approval and another open period for formal objections. For now the focus stays simple: read the papers and tell the council what you think about traffic, parking, water use or anything else that jumps out as of concern.
