Locals and visitors heading to Nerja this week can tuck into artisan produce from Axarquia, Andalucia and beyond while enjoying free live music right on the town’s most famous viewpoint.

Running from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 August, the second year of the Feria Gastronomica Balcon de Europa brings three evenings of regional flavours and entertainment to one of the Costa del Sol’s best-loved spots. Organised by the town hall, the fair puts homemade and traditional specialities front and centre.

Opening times and what to expect

Doors open at 7pm each day and stay open until 1am, giving everyone plenty of time to sample cheeses, cured meats, jams and other handcrafted treats. Stalls feature products from the Axarquia hills as well as other parts of Andalucia and Spain, so you can try a real mix without leaving the promenade.

Music starts at 10.30pm every night, and entry is completely free. Three different acts take the stage across the weekend, turning the viewpoint into an open-air stage with the Mediterranean as a backdrop.

Local flavours take centre stage

Councillor for Tourism Ana Maria Muñoz says this year’s fair marks real progress for an event that set out to become a regular summer fixture. “We want the Balcon de Europa to be a place where people can enjoy our gastronomy, our products and our culture in the unique setting Nerja offers,” she explained.

Nerja Town Hall is inviting both residents and those on their holidays in the area to drop by, discover local tastes and join the cultural programme that keeps August busy in the town.

If you enjoy these coastal food gatherings, last year’s Sabor a Malaga fair on the same stretch of promenade proved popular with producers and visitors alike. Whether you’re after a relaxed evening of tasting or a free concert under the stars, the Balcon de Europa looks set for another lively weekend.
