Former pro footballer, coach and scout Lee Payne has launched Football Fun Factory in Marbella, his long-time home. After years hunting top talent for European clubs, the Englishman is now shaping the next generation right on his Costa del Sol doorstep.
Lee’s special bond with Marbella
Plenty of places have featured in Lee Payne’s football travels, yet Marbella has always held a special place in his heart. His own children grew up there and he is proud to call it home. Launching Football Fun Factory means a great deal personally. “I want to create something that children and families can really enjoy,” he says. “A place where children can get active, play football, make new friends and grow in confidence. And of course, hopefully score a few goals along with the way! I’m really looking forward to helping the next generation of children in Marbella to fall in love with playing football.”
More than just kicking a ball
Football Fun Factory sets out to become the world’s leading children’s football coaching organisation. Salim Berkkun, involved with the Enfield branch, explains the bigger picture: football is the vehicle, child development is the purpose. Kids build confidence, make friendships, develop social skills, feel included, grow in resilience and fall in love with being active – all in a fun, pressure-free setting. Spain’s first international franchise marks an exciting step beyond the UK, keeping the same mission of putting smiles on children’s faces.
Spotting future stars on the Costa del Sol
Marbella’s warm community spirit and growing youth scene make it ideal for nurturing young players. Lee’s background as a scout and coach means local kids get expert guidance while simply enjoying the game. Families can expect inclusive sessions that encourage every child, regardless of ability. For more on Lee’s journey to calling Marbella home, see his earlier Euro Weekly News interview. Inclusive sport continues to grow locally, as shown in projects such as the adapted skatepark.
Details and bookings are available via the official Football Fun Factory website. Lee’s move brings a proper British football feel to Marbella’s youngsters, helping them thrive both on and off the pitch in true heartwarming fashion.
