Benalmadena town hall has rolled out a new network of safety kit across its coastline, and has installed 30 megaphone points and 23 SOS stations to help beachgoers, bathers and emergency crews stay connected.

Councillor for Beaches Presi Aguilera described the move as an important step that puts technology in the hands of both visitors and the professionals who work the shore every day. Real-time announcements can now go out to specific stretches of sand, while SOS points let anyone needing to call for help, do so straight away.

Loudspeakers cover key stretches from Carvajal to Fuente de la Salud

Megaphone units sit at Carvajal, Playa Bonita, Torrevigia, Los Melilleros, Arroyo de la Miel, Bil-Bil, Santa Ana, Las Gaviotas, Malapesquera, Torrebermeja and Fuente de la Salud. Each SOS cabin has its own control console. Staff can broadcast live messages or trigger pre-recorded warnings about conditions, advice or any other useful information for people on the beach.

SOS points stay active all year round for emergencies

Twenty-three SOS stations now extend coverage from Carvajal beach right through to Fuente de la Salud, taking in quieter spots such as Tajo de la Soga, La Morera, La Perla, Torremuelle, Arroyo Hondo, Malibu, La Viborilla, Benalnatura, La Yuca and Torrequebrada.

In summer the points link directly to the lifeguard service between 11am and 8pm. Outside those hours, and once the main season ends, all calls will go to Local Police around the clock. Aguilera stressed that the system will still be useful well beyond peak months so anyone needing assistance can still reach local council and emergency services.

She said Benalmadena’s busy and popular shoreline and said the council keeps adding tools that help staff spot risks early and react faster. Modernising beach services remains a priority, she added, but safety for residents and visitors always comes first.
