A grand day out in Ojen. Traditional soup, classic cars and live jazz music

Plaza de Andalucia is chopping and peeling and preparing itself to host three different celebrations in a single action-packed day on Saturday, September 12. Local mayor Juan Merino has even joined residents in kitchen preparations, all gearing up for an authentic Spanish village gathering.

Traditional flavours fuel the day in an early afternoon feast

Gastronomy kicks off the day beginning at 2pm with the second annual edition of Sopa Ojeneta, a humble, rustic garlic-and-tomato bread soup, to honour one of the town’s most iconic culinary recipes.

Cheerful tunes, fun, interactive karaoke tracks and popular background music will keep visitors entertained right there in the stunning village core. Tastings allow attendees to experience some genuine, delicious local hospitality under the warm summer skies.

Vintage wheels bring historic motor power to town

Automotive enthusiasts will be well looked after, where you can look forward to seeing vintage vehicles parked around the main square during the brand new Ojen Classic Car Meet. Marking its very first official edition, this exhibition brings historic motoring directly into picturesque mountain streets. Families, collectors and curious onlookers get a rare opportunity to inspect finely restored engines up close. Organisers designed the motor show to entertain visitors of all ages.

A spot of Jazz to close out late night festivities

Sunset brings world-class entertainment when the 11th Ojen Jazz Festival commences at 8pm. Hosted outdoors, entrance is completely free for everyone looking for some beautiful live music.

Distinguished musical groups Masha Ocean 4tet and Valentín Murillo Grupo lead this year’s artist line-up. Soft horn lines, incredible vocals and smooth rhythms promise a memorable for anyone living in or visiting the area.
