ACE-SHIN lines up a big Costa del Sol fundraising weekend with two events

Animal lovers have two chances to support ACE-SHIN this week, with the Costa del Sol charity holding fundraisers at two popular local restaurants just days apart.

The first takes place on Thursday, October 1, when Raquets Restaurant in Torrenueva gives over its lunchtime service to ACE-SHIN. Then, on Saturday, October 3, the charity returns to Restaurante El Jinete in Mijas Costa for its annual Autumn Charity Lunch.

Raquets gives up a day for ACE-SHIN

Raquets proprietors Craig and Pauline are making a particularly generous contribution by giving up a day of their normal lunch trade so that ACE-SHIN can hold the fundraiser.

Pauline makes the food herself using locally sourced ingredients, quality meat and fish, with daily specials available alongside the a la carte menu.

For Thursday’s event, doors open at 1pm, with only 70 tickets available. Entry costs €5, while food and drinks are paid for separately. All food sales will go directly to the ACE-SHIN shelter.

Guests can enjoy homemade sandwiches, quiches, sausage rolls, cheese pies, cakes and more, with the option to eat at the restaurant or take food away. Live music will also be provided by singer and guitarist Andy Time.

The raffle has also received strong local support, with prizes donated by La Scala Group, GR Andalux Events – Costa del Sol, Benavra, La Gamba, Toga Wine Bar, Koala Catering, Martha and Kate McGrath, Ann Marie Cosby, Tulsi Indian Restaurant, Lyn Downey and Palmer’s English Butchers.

Saturday lunch at El Jinete

Two days later, ACE-SHIN supporters can head to El Jinete for the charity’s Autumn Lunch, starting at 2pm on Saturday, October 3.

Tickets cost €50, including a welcome drink, a three-course lunch with vegetarian choices and two drinks during the meal. A €10 donation from every ticket goes directly to ACE-SHIN, while live entertainment will come from singer Harvey James.

El Jinete is already well known to Costa del Sol diners. Located on the road to La Cala Golf, the restaurant has built a reputation around Chef Roque Martínez Luna’s cooking, particularly its grilled meats and chateaubriand, while its countryside terrace provides a relaxed setting. EWN has previously featured the restaurant’s food, atmosphere and live entertainment.

A weekend that helps the animals

ACE-SHIN cares for hundreds of abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats, with the charity relying heavily on fundraising to meet the costs of food, veterinary treatment and shelter.

With two events taking place within the same week, supporters can choose between a casual afternoon at Raquets or a full charity lunch at El Jinete – or, for the particularly committed, enjoy both while helping animals in need.
