Benalmadena is putting €8.38 million into a new round of projects covering roads, beaches, public transport, parks and public facilities.
A supplementary credit of €8,381,215 has now been approved definitively by the town hall, with the money coming from the municipality’s existing treasury surplus rather than new borrowing. The package covers projects in infrastructure, mobility, beaches, sanitation, cleaning, parks and sports facilities.
Where will Benalmadena spend the money?
Residents and visitors can expect the €8.38 million package to cover a wide range of improvements, including:
- Park Innova: improvements to the park and new spaces for youth activities and rehearsal rooms.
- Fuente de la Salud: works to improve the entrance to Benalmadena.
- Beaches: new smart and themed showers, following recent beach safety improvements in Benalmadena.
- Avenida Las Palmeras and Avenida de los Argonautas: reorganisation works.
- Public transport: new bus bays and platforms for bus shelters.
- Road safety: traffic-calming measures, adding to recent traffic changes in Benalmadena.
- Arroyo de la Miel Library: repair work.
- Cleaning: additional funding for municipal cleaning services.
- Sewerage: infrastructure improvements in Torremar, Capellania and Higueron.
- Parks and playgrounds: new children’s play equipment and outdoor exercise facilities.
- Sports: improvements to municipal sporting facilities.
- Outstanding invoices: €386,825 has also been included to cover unpaid bills.
Part of a much bigger investment programme
Benalmadena’s latest €8.38 million package is separate from the wider 2026 investment programme, which includes more than €30 million in planned investment.
Other projects associated with that broader programme include parking improvements in Benalmadena, new asphalting plans, restoration work at the Roman pools of Torremuelle and Torrebermeja, and the rehabilitation of La Luz nursery school.
Residents and visitors should therefore see spending spread across different parts of everyday life around the municipality as individual projects move ahead, from beaches and bus stops to parks, roads, drainage and public buildings.
For residents who want to follow where municipal money is going, the Benalmadena Town Hall 2026 budget and investment documents are available through its transparency portal.
