Hondon de los Frailes has a busy weekend ahead with charity fundraising, bargain hunting and live music. Barkinside Animal Sanctuary will raise vital funds with its latest car boot sale at Tipsy Terrace, while Simply Red fans can enjoy four decades of hits when tribute performer Jim McMail appears at The Hondon Hub.
Car boot bargains support Barkinside Animal Sanctuary
Bargain hunters can browse for second-hand finds while supporting rescued animals when Barkinside Animal Sanctuary holds its next car boot sale and open-air market on Sunday, October 11.
Hosted by Tipsy Terrace in Hondon de los Frailes, sellers can arrive from 8:00 AM, with buyers welcome from 9:00 AM. Outdoor pitches and facilities will be available, while the venue will serve tea, coffee, bacon and sausage baguettes, full breakfasts and snacks.
The event raises funds for Barkinside Animal Sanctuary, a volunteer-run organisation rescuing dogs from Alicante province and elsewhere in Spain. Barkinside accepts dogs regardless of their age, health or condition, providing individual care and rehabilitation. Where possible, dogs are rehomed, while those unable to be adopted can remain at the sanctuary for life.
The sanctuary also works to help dogs leave Spanish kill stations and supports other animal rescues when possible. Its work is funded through donations and fundraising, with volunteers receiving no payment.
The car boot sale takes place at Tipsy Terrace, Calle Padre Claret 18, 03689 Hondon de los Frailes. The venue can be contacted on (+34) 655 186 590.
Anyone wishing to book a selling pitch should contact Barkinside on (+34) 697 122 883.
Simply Red tribute celebrates 40 years of hits
Simply Red fans can celebrate 40 years of the iconic British band’s music when tribute performer Jim McMail takes to the stage at The Hondon Hub on Saturday, October 10.
McMail will recreate the distinctive sound and feel of Simply Red, drawing on four decades of music and a catalogue that has produced some of the band’s most recognisable songs.
The evening will include favourites such as Holding Back the Years, Stars, If You Don’t Know Me by Now and Money’s Too Tight (To Mention), alongside plenty of other Simply Red classics.
Live music begins at 8:30 PM, but the evening starts earlier for those booking the dinner package. Food will be served between 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM and must be pre-ordered.
Entry costs €20 per person and includes food. Diners can choose from sweet and sour pork noodles, chicken jalfrezi, salt and pepper chicken or four-bean chilli, served with a choice of yellow or boiled rice.
Table salad, poppadoms, naan or nachos and sorbet are also included, making it a full dinner-and-show evening before McMail takes over with the music.
The Hondon Hub is at Partida Solana Galiana 20, Hondon de los Frailes, along the CV-845.
Advance booking is recommended. For reservations and further information, call (+34) 711 046 164.
