Rose and Thistle charity quiz night gives Los Barrios dogs a second chance

Some evenings out are just evenings out, but this one has extra meaning, it could help a dog find a sofa to call its own. Gather your quick-thinking friends and phone ahead for a table, for the Rose and Thistle charity quiz night.

A regular quiz with a worthy cause

Rose and Thistle Charity Quiz Night takes place on Friday, October 16 at 8pm. This week’s money goes to SOS Canya, the dog shelter in Los Barrios, Cadiz. Organisers call it “always a great night”, regulars and newcomers are welcome to bring a team or simply come along yourself and join in to test your knowledge.

SOS has had more than 850 abandoned dogs passed through the charity’s care over the past year, and over 200 currently depend on foster homes and the shelters services for food, medicine and daily attention.

Raffle prizes wanted

A raffle will be held to add some extra spice to the night. Organisers are also collecting prizes if anyone is kind enough to donate, they say any contribution would be amazing. A bottle of wine, a meal voucher or a handmade gift would all fit the bill, any modest prize still adds to the evening’s total.

Community coming together again for the cause

Those living in the area and beyond have backed this shelter for a long time, the charity’s work rehoming animals to new families in the UK, Germany and Finland has been long supported.

How to reserve your place

Organisers ask guests to reserve in advance. Call 952 155 850 or send them a private message. For the full poster and details visit the Rose and Thistle Facebook page.

So, have a trial game of trivial pursuit, choose a team name, sharpen your general knowledge and make that phone call. You’ll enjoy a fun evening, and some deserving dogs will be better off for it.
