Inca’s autumn fair season got off to a colourful start last weekend, with traditional Mallorcan crafts, artisan stalls, family activities and cultural events bringing visitors into the town centre.

The Fira de la Terra, held on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, marked the first of three consecutive weekends of autumn fairs in the Mallorcan town, with a programme celebrating local heritage, creativity and community life.

The event offered a mix of traditional activities and newer attractions, giving visitors the chance to discover local customs while enjoying entertainment for all ages.

Traditional Mallorcan crafts take centre stage

One of this year’s additions was the Racó dels Oficis, held in Plaça de sa Quartera, where visitors could discover traditional crafts through live demonstrations.

These included palm-leaf basket weaving and techniques for repairing and weaving chair seats using natural materials, highlighting skills associated with Mallorca’s artisanal heritage.

The Fira Màgica de les Rondalles also returned, celebrating the island’s traditional folk tales through performances, workshops, exhibitions and artisan stalls.

The programme offered families an opportunity to explore Mallorca’s storytelling traditions while taking part in activities inspired by the island’s cultural history.

Creative activities and cultural attractions

The weekend also featured the second Inca Yokai Fest, which brought a Japanese-culture theme to part of the programme, with comics, manga, workshops, cosplay competitions and food trucks.

Meanwhile, the Creativíssim craft fair offered handmade products and creative workshops at Fàbrica Ramis, providing another opportunity for visitors to discover local crafts and take part in practical activities.

A flower and plant market added colour to the town centre, with stalls along Carrer Major and Carrer del Comerç.

Together, the attractions created a varied programme combining traditional skills, creative pursuits and entertainment, while giving local organisations and traders an opportunity to connect with visitors.

More autumn fairs to come

The Fira de la Terra is only the beginning of Inca’s busy autumn fair season.

The programme continues on Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, with the Fira de l’Esport i l’Oci, focusing on sport, leisure and entertainment.

The Fira d’Època follows on November 7 and 8, before Dijous Bo, one of Mallorca’s best-known traditional markets, takes place on November 19.

The annual celebrations are a major fixture in Inca’s calendar, bringing together local traditions, commerce and cultural activities while attracting visitors from across the island.
