Ever taken your child to the Three Kings parade and thought that they may prefer to be a sweet thrower rather than a catcher? Fuengirola children can now trade a spot on the pavement for a seat on a parade float this January. Applications for the 2027 Three Kings Parade open on Monday, November 9 and close at 2pm on Monday, November 16.
Known in Spanish as the Cabalgata de Reyes, the Three Kings Parade is one of Spain’s most magical family traditions. On January 5, Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar — the three wise men of the Christmas story — travel through Fuengirola, and selected children will ride among the celebrations rather than watch them pass by.
Who can apply
Children aged 6 to 12 can apply to appear on the children’s floats, while young people aged 13 to 17 may be chosen for the royal floats, riding with the Three Kings themselves.
Priority goes to children registered as residents in Fuengirola. If places remain once the first application period ends, children who are not registered in Fuengirola may also be considered.
How to enter
One application is allowed per household. A parent or legal guardian must complete and sign the form, which is specific to this parade.
Families can apply in two ways:
– Online through Fuengirola Council’s electronic office, the Sede Electronica
– In person at the council’s general registry, or at the district offices in Los Boliches and El Boquetillo
Participation rules and the application form can already be consulted and downloaded from the council’s electronic office, so parents can get everything ready before applications open.
This year’s form asks families to declare any food allergies or intolerances their child may have. Organisers will use this information when preparing the snack handed out to children during the parade. A considerate addition for parents of children with dietary needs, helping ensure the evening stays fun and safe from start to finish.
What you can expect come January
Fiestas councillor Isabel Moreno announced that 25 floats will accompany the Three Kings through Fuengirola in 2027. The parade takes place on Tuesday, January 5 , the date when many Spanish children traditionally receive their Christmas presents.
For families who are settled on the Costa del Sol, this wonderful celebration is a chance to be part of the culture and tradition of the area. Children selected for the parade can enjoy the excitement, music and colour of the procession as it passes through the streets of Fuengrirola.
Don’t miss the deadline
Applications must reach the council between 9am on Monday, November 9 and 2pm on Monday, November 16. With resident children given priority and only one application permitted per household, interested families should submit their form early rather than risk missing out.
