GUARDIA Civil have rescued 10 immigrants who were trapped under a dock in Algeciras port.
They had got trapped by the rising tide when they hid after jumping overboard from a boat in an effort to escape detection.
The events occurred when the Maritime Rescue /Salvamento Maritimo) boat that had rescued them in the Strait of Gibraltar entered port to disembark.
The lower part of these docks has air chambers which allows them to act as breakwaters to maintain the safety of the ships at berth.
But visibility is virtually nil and gravel and iron girders make access extremely difficult, so the immigrants became trapped.
Port bosses called in the Guardia Civil’s frogman unit (GEAS to rescue the trapped men in view of the danger posed byb the rising tide.
A team of four GEAS divers located the 10 people towards the end of one of the piers. They were transferred to a Guardia Civil boat before being landed and receiving medical attention.

And then deported ? Of not, why not ? They have proved they know they are ILLEGAL immigrants by hiding, rather than seeking asylum or refugee status
