IN what proved to be a fabulous night, Mark and Penny Quinlan of The Harbour restaurant in Marbella hosted an outstanding tribute to all the brave members of the Costal del Sol emergency services who constantly put their lives on the line to protect the local community.

Mark and Penny had really pulled out all the stops, not only donating everything for Monday evening’s event, but also dedicating a huge amount of time and effort to ensuring their top eatery looked at its dazzling best.

Atmospheric lights and beautiful flowers added perfectly to the ambience of the occasion, which featured excellent food, flowing wine and great entertainment by the lovely Tabitha.

The Euro Weekly News was absolutely delighted to be among the 140 guests invited to attend and to share the evening with firefighters from stations from Fuengirola to Estepona, including the Mijas and Marbella fire brigade chiefs, Red Cross and Proteccion Civil members and the chiefs of the Marbella National and Local Police forces and Guardia Civil.

Also enjoying the night were dignitaries including the British Consul Charmaine Arbouin, British Consul Official Suzan Davenport, Brexpats Spain President Anne Hernandez and Mijas councillors.

Mark and Penny were prompted to do something to recognise the invaluable work of all the wonderful people who make up the Costa del Sol’s emergency services after they were twice caught in situations where they were unable to get home due to wildfires.

As Costa del Sol residents know, 2019 was a worrying and stressful year for many as blazes hit many parts of the region, and it is these heroes who fight the fires which can have such a devastating effect on people’s lives and do their utmost to keep everyone safe.

There was a surprise for Marc and Penny on the night when Royal Club Nautico President Fernando Alvarez presented them with a gift and their very own personalised ‘Bomberos Marbella’ shirts.

Marc expressed a huge thank you, and vowed to make the tribute night a yearly event that will just get bigger and bigger!

THIS WONDERFUL EVENING SO KINDLY GIVEN TO US TO ENJOY DEFINITELY SET THE SOCIAL CALENDAR ALIGHT FOR 2020, CONGRATULATIONS TO MARC, PENNY AND CREW OF THE HARBOUR.
