AUGUST has begun with average hotel occupancy of 90 per cent in Mallorca, although this varies from area to area.
Platja de Palma and the north of the island had occupancies close to 100 per cent while in Palma city occupancy was just 65 per cent. July’s occupancy was 85 per cent and June’s was 80 per cent.
“We are satisfied that hotels have recovered their volume, however facilities have experienced a drop in profitability due to increasing costs of wages and utilities while the selling price has remained the same as previous years,” said Inma de Benito, manager of the Mallorca Hotel Federation.
