A MAN died in Palma de Mallorca after a police officer sat on his chest.
The 37-year-old was seen running ‘manically’ in-between parked cars and people on Calle Joan Miro at around 9.45am on Tuesday in just his underwear.
He was intercepted by various National Police officers who proceeded to arrest him as he was posing a danger to other people, traffic and himself.
In order to keep him still one of the officers sat astride his chest.
Fifteen minutes later he began to suffer spasms and convulsions before falling unconscious.
A doctor and nurse were nearby and tried to reanimate him until the ambulance arrived.
A small bag of white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine, was found in the man’s mouth.
It has been taken to the laboratory for analysis.
It is believed that the man had a serious drug addiction and that he had consumed large quantities of the drug the night before.
A video of the incident was caught on camera, albeit from a distance.
