SCAM: Phone calls inform of false accidents
GUARDIA CIVIL have alerted of a scam in which victims are called and told that a relative has been in a traffic accident.
The Guardia Civil discovered the fraud after receiving calls from people asking about accidents which had not occurred.
The aim is to get people to leave their homes to visit their relative in hospital, leaving it empty for burglars to target.
The calls are normally made by women with South American accents.
Guardia Civil recommend that people verify whether their relative has been involved in an accident before leaving their homes.
