Calle Rei Jaume where the fire occurred
A CHILD, five, died from the effects of smoke inhalation in a house fire in Mallorca in the early that started around 07.00am this morning.
The house, in Calle Rei Jaume 1, in Porreres, caught fire for reasons as yet unknown. An investigation has been opened to determine the causes of the fire.
The first hypothesis by the Judicial Police however is that the fire may have started on the stairs that connect the first floor to the second in the dwelling.
Two adults and four children had to be treated at the scene. One of the children had been invited to stay at the home for the weekend.
