Some of the beaches need some work before the summer starts.
Benalmadena Council is working to prepare the local beaches for the summer.
The mayor, Paloma Garcia, met with the head of the Coastal Department, Angel Gonzalez, to identify the areas in which sand is needed the most.
The aim of the meeting was to identify the town’s needs and demands so that they complement other work which will be carried out along the coast.
Local beaches have been affected by storms throughout the winter, which have removed sand.
The mayor pointed out that the town’s main industry is tourism, which is why the council makes a huge effort to make sure that local residents and tourists are able to enjoy the beaches.
She estimated that more than €115,000 would be spent this year by the central government’s Coastal Department on the local beaches this year.
The Councillor for Beaches, Jose Antonio Serrano, explained that the council plans improvements in the area between the beaches of Malapesquera and Bil-Bil.
