A 72-YEAR-OLD man has died after being struck by a falling branch in the capital of Madrid. The man was walking on the pavement in the Villa de Vallecs area around 21.40 when the branch fell, hitting him on the head, chest and stomach.
The man suffered a cardiac arrest at the scene.
This is the second death in three months by falling tree branches in Madrid. A man aged 38 died in June after being hit on the head by a falling branch.
The town hall in Madrid has denied responsibility. An investigation had been opened regarding the first death in June at the Retiro Park.
