Doing the donkey work on Teulada tower

CAP D’OR: Facelift for 16th century tower

REHABILITATING Teulada’s Cap d’Or lookout tower will begin shortly.

A start will first be made by clearing and weeding the surrounding area before experts get down to treating the cracks on the facade of the 16th century tower and inserting metal stays.

Repairs will also be made to the old-fashioned water deposit while the path up to the tower will be made easier with a flight of dry-stone steps.

LED lighting powered by solar panels is to be installed, revealed Teulada’s mayor Antoni Joan Bertomeu. Donkeys will be used to transport all necessary materials in order to inflict as little harm as possible on the immediate surroundings and environment.

The Cap d’Or is located 165 metres above sea level and has privileged views out to sea and Ifach as well as inland to the Sierra de Toix, Sierra de Olta, Puig Campana and Bernia. Once finished, it will be one of the area’s most attractive tourist attractions, Bertomeu predicted.
