THE Mothers’ Milk Bank of the Balearic Islands is calling for mothers who have given birth within the last six months and are breastfeeding their child to donate milk.
The institution announced that they faced a critical situation, as the bank was almost empty. They explained that a baby born with a very low weight needed up to two litres of breast milk per week to ensure appropriate development.
Every year, more than 150 litres of milk are needed by the regional bank and more than fifty premature babies are the recipients.
Those women who wish to donate must be currently breastfeeding their baby and be in excellent health. Anyone interested in donating can contact the Milk Bank by calling 971 764 433 or by email at infotejidos@fbstib.org
