BENIDORM ALL SHOOK UP: Certainly not Lonesome Tonight!
THE fifth Elvis Fest is underway in Benidorm and everywhere you turn there is an Elvis look alike – some good and some not so good but all with the uniform quiff, sideburns, loud ‘I need my sunglasses’ clothing and passion.
The weather couldn’t have been any better and many enjoyed the location of the outside stage, next to the pool of the Hotel Melia, soaking up the sun, music and atmosphere in equal measures. Hotel guests staying at the hotel had an unexpected surprise, not realising that the place had become ‘Gracelands’ for the weekend! Even Derren Litten, writer of the Benidorm series was in the audience along with fellow cast members Tony Maudsley and Tim Healy.
International Elvis Tribute Artists – ETA´s – made their way to Benidorm where they were rapturously received by dedicated Elvis fans singing all The King’s classic hits at three separate venues – which even if you are not an Elvis fan you would still know and recognise.
Sunday night there will be a huge finale at Benidorm Palace with all 12 ETAs performing together – certainly a once in a lifetime show stopper!
