Eras de la Sal to get a makeover

MORE than €1.18million is being invested in Torrevieja’s Eras de la Sal area.

Mayor Eduardo Dolon said the work would include the completion of a pedestrian walkway along from the Paseo Vista Alegre and Paseo Maestro Velero Juan Bautista Buades, connecting to Avenida Greforio Marañon.

Work on the historic Eras de la Sal will include treatment and rehabilitation of the existing external walls, façades and roof of the Salinas Administration House, and provide access to the loading dock.

The south wall will also be restored and a ramp and staircase built at the west end of the pier. The stone floor of the dock, which has been eroded by the sea making the surface difficult to walk on and for wheelchairs, will be repaved.

The mayor said the completion of these works will be of great significance for the city, revitalising one of the most historic areas and completing the pedestrian route along the coastline.
