THE school caretaker whose family were involved in a shooting incident will move to another centre.
He offered to vacate the home that goes with his job at Almeria City’s San Indalecio school and will move to a new post at another centre. This time, however, neither he nor his family will live on the school premises but will be found accommodation elsewhere.
The caretaker’s 15-year-old granddaughter suffered slight injuries in the shooting which occurred outside the school gates at San Indalecio school in Almeria City. Her 23-year-old aggressor is now remanded on charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms.
Parents, incensed by the incident and worried about the effects of the shooting on pupils, staged a demonstration last week and called on the city authorities to take action over the issue.
They were tired of the unsafe atmosphere at the school following this latest episode said the San Urbano parents’ association. Although they excluded the caretaker from their criticisms, his extended family had been source of conflict for years, they said.
“It’s not normal for police to be called all the time to a school with 700 pupils,” said a member of the San Urbano association.
