SILLINESS has no place on the roads, DGT traffic authority director Maria Segui has announced referring to a fireman who has been fined for ‘doing a Superman.’The fireman, from Los Corrales de Buelna in Cantabria, was fined by the Guardia Civil for appearing in a video on the A67 motorway sticking his body out of the back window of a car to appear by the passenger window and knock, yelling “To Corrales?”The other passengers’ laughs can be heard on the video, which spread like wildfire on social media sites.Cantabria’s 112 Emergency Services, the fireman’s employer, has also opened an investigation to decide whether the irresponsible man should be disciplined by the service.“One has to wonder whether they were under the effects of harmful substances,” the DGT leader commented while presenting a report on the influence of drink and drugs on drivers. The Guardia Civil has over the last few years taken more of an interest in social media sites, using them to detect road and traffic offences.Just a couple of months ago, a man was also fined by the force after posting recordings of himself driving at 190 kilometres per hour with his four-year-old son standing between the front seats of the car.“These acts put us all at risk,” Segui stressed.
