A MAN has been jailed for almost a year and a half and fined €2,160 for offering mobile phones for €500 but handing over cartons of fruit juice instead. The accused advertised iPhones for sale on a secondhand sales website and masqueraded as a messenger who arrived at buyers’ homes, took the cash and ran before they had time to open the packets and discover the swindle.A Malaga Provincial Court found the man guilty after hearing that at least three people fell for the scam, one of whom had handed over €2,500 for what turned out to be five cartons of juice from a supermarket.
