MORE than 100,000 people have visited Estepona’s Orchid and Botanical Gardens since they were inaugurated back in March.The council had predicted that this number of visitors would be reached a year after the park was opened, which goes to show the great results produced by the facilities in barely two months.The park has 200 square metres of vertical gardens, 8,000 different species of plants and had a total cost of €2.3 million.Meanwhile, the Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI, has also attracted 10,000 attendees to different plays and shows. The facilities have a budget of €5.7 million.Estepona is currently establishing a positive trend in terms of tourism and hotel occupancy, with great figures last year as the town registered the best September in the past decade with 70 per cent occupancy.In July, there were 24 per cent more visitors than the same month of 2013, reaching a total of 27,000 people.Finally, August marked the best results for Estepona in the past six years, when more than 33,000 people visited the town.
