RESIDENTS and visitors are welcomed to bargain hunt through the night as Almuñecar celebrates this summer’s first ‘Shopping Night’ on Saturday (July 11).The first of four nocturnal shopping sprees has been organised by the town council, with many local shops remaining open right into the small hours, from 9pm to 2am.“For the past four years we have encouraged consumption and local commerce with this event,” said Commerce councillor, Rafael Caballero. The streets of Almuñecar will be specially decorated for the occasion and there will also be entertaining performances as well as discounts and gifts for customers in several shops.More than 50 local businesses are to take part in this event, including fashion, jewellery, book and gift shops, and many others.“The atmosphere created with this event, after other year’s experiences, is an added tourism attraction, not only for commerce but also for other sectors, as a great variety of tapa restaurants, bar terraces and other commerce are offered to the public,” finished Mr Caballero.
