FORTY-EIGHT per cent of shop owners in Mallorca say they have sold more in the first two weeks of this year’s summer sales than over the same period last year.Five per cent claims to have sold the same, according to the Union for Small and Medium Businesses (PIMECO).Twenty per cent say they expected the sales to go better, while 40 per cent thought they would be worse.Sixty per cent said that the sales had met their expectations while 40 per cent said they had not. Almost 50 per cent blamed this on the lack of customers and 51 per cent blamed it on the lack of desire to buy.
