THE first death this year from heatstroke in Malaga Province this summer was registered last week in Torre del Mar.
A 36-year-old Spanish cyclist had decided to go out for a ride in Friday afternoon (July 31) and collapsed on the street, where a passerby found him and called for an ambulance.
Axarquia Hospital sources confirmed that the man was admitted to intensive care in a coma with severe dehydration and a high temperature and doctors’ efforts to save him were in vain.
The Junta de Andalucia regional government’s health department reported that this was the first heat-related death in the province this summer, although various patients have been treated for heatstroke in July.
