LOCAL politicians joined Amanecer de la Torre women’s association last week at a protest outside the unused Torre de Benagalbon health centre to demand it be put into service.
The premises were built more than three years ago with €600,000 of funds from the so-called Zapatero Plan, yet the Junta de Andalucia regional government has still not supplied resources or staff for the centre.
“It’s a great shame,” said association president Eduardina Rando, who explained that there are 8,000 local residents who would benefit from a health centre.
