HELD on December 16, the Gibraltar Broadcasting Company (GBC) Open Day was a complete success raising more than £120,000 (€168,000) for charity on the day, although donations and auction receipts will still be coming in until the weekend.
Radio Gibraltar spent the day at the Piazza and then TV took over, broadcasting live from the John Mackintosh Hall in the evening with a show that included entertainment from The Trio, and dancers from Stylos and Danza, as well a general encouragement to keep donating and specially produced spoofs.
One very lucky lady, Lily Perez, called into the show and won a car donated by the Capurro Group.
Fundraising events which had taken place during previous weeks up to the open day included various fun sporting challenges, cake baking, pub quiz and whatever innovative fund raising ideas that participants could dream up.
