FUN FOR ALL: The new specially adapted swing in Calle Via, Denia.
VICENT GRIMALT, the Mayor of Denia, was among several town hall representatives who gathered at a park in the town for the inauguration of a specially adapted play area.
This new amenity is aimed at giving disabled youngsters in the town the opportunity to use the park which is located on Calle Via. The centrepiece is a specially adapted swing which allows access for disabled people.
The money for the park was provided by the Denia Foundation and Third Millennium groups who were represented as were members of local disabled associations. This is a further step in Denia Town Hall’s pledge to promote ‘inclusivity for all.’
The councillor for Social Welfare, Cristina Morera, said that this encouraged normalisation of disabilities by encouraging all children to play together.
She also said that they expect to extend the scheme to other parks shortly, starting with the facility on Plaza Jaume I followed possibly by the one near the Centro de Salud Mestre Cardona.
Mayor Grimalt thanked all parties concerned and asked that people and their children respect and care for this expensive installation. Nicolas Merle from Foundation Denia praised “the co-operation between the town hall, the foundations charity and the Denia residents.”
