RADIANT ROWERS: Celebrate record achievement.
EIGHTY-FOUR rowers from all over Spain gathered at the rowing and canoeing canal in Cuevas del Almanzora on October 22 for a successful Dragon Boat Guinness Record attempt.
For 24 hours the rowers took turns to keep the boat moving, covering a total distance of 264.53 kilometres and snatching the record from the German team which up to now held the best mark.
The record attempt was organised by Cuevas del Almanzora Council’s culture and tourism department, which said obtaining the record was a dream come true.
Local mayor Antonio Fernandez congratulated the rowers and said he was overwhelmed by the result, which means Cuevas now has an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
