The council will ask the Junta de Andalucia to increase staffing levels in it's daycare centre
PENSIONERS in Almuñecar have complained that the day centre for the elderly in the town has been closed on a number of days in December whilst the centre in nearby La Herradura is open.
According to the council, the problem is caused by a number of public holidays during the month as well as the fact that the centre which has been open for 30 years is run by the Junta de Andalucia and the council therefore has no control.
The council will however ask that the Junta take action to increase the staffing level of the centre which currently consists of just two people so that the elderly in the locality do not feel disadvantaged and will have a chance to be less lonely by meeting with friends regularly.
